Side note: I did win a prize for the cocktail I brought to the party...I made an adult version of Ecto-Cooler:
Now, imagine...a ferocious red dachshund comes flying down the stairs.
(I tried looking for a ferocious looking dachshund photo...I couldn't find any...and to protect the identity of the dog in question, I won't be posting a picture of him, even though I have a billion of those...)
Yep, that's how it happened...and that's how I got this:
OK, so he didn't necessarily come charging at me. Maybe it was my own fault. Maybe he was just having a moment of social anxiety. Maybe I shouldn't have used my foot to block him from getting into a bag of garbage that had chocolate in it. Coulda, woulda, shoulda...
It really hurt for like the next week or so. Of course, I had to work and that meant I had to wear close toed shoes. It was really hard to walk for the first few days.

Flash forward a month...the dachshund and I are still friends. We still hang out and stuff. The healing process has been moving along and I still have a nice looking scab and will probably have a minor permanent scar.
